HI I'm Lainey Garretson, From Retail to Product design and ownership, UI/UX design
My background became obvious to me when I was interested in helping people. I grew up under a mom who was an RN. So helping people was my drive throughout my careers. I started in customer service and retail sales launching myself into a store management position. I used my creative side as a musician to enter into graphics and code as I loved to play PC games in the late 90s. Building web sites in the early 2000s and learning more about code, server side and design architecture, I advanced into Web Master. By 2007 I worked in front end development for a few years working with Bootstrap and Foundation's responsive code and decided that knowing what user's pain points were more important to the design while at Expedia. That was the start of my Product Design and Dev, Product Management, UI Interaction Designer, and UX Designer. I still love helping people and users striving to make applications as easy as possible for the user. I'm still learning as much as possible as technology changes.
Work Bench Built on React framework with hybrid Material UI integration on Adobe XD Wireframes and Prototyping
I designed built this workbench after interviewing stakeholders, adjusters and underwriting, who were all the users of this app.
Our hypothesis from research was to allow users to add and save information in order for them to process catastrophe sites while in the field. This app was designed to to be a one place for all or dashboard to retrieve information from data and add to the existing data in the files. There was no dashboard before this one.
Our goal was to design according to findings and the my role as UI designer was to gather requirements based on our initial hypothesis, and to design a mood-board, design a style guide (using branding), wireframe and to what was based in our hypothesis in the UI on VUE.js utilizing the Material UI.
Many features of this app were built with JS framework abilities in mind. Drag and Drop, Drop-down, grayed out inputs, and to add smart calendars through out, and to code auto sort etc. Many features were using the back end data sent to respond to the call on the front end. Also the biggest desire from the stakeholders was to design with Material UI.
This was designed and prototyped in Adobe XD and converted to the front end code so that the Front End dev could to add the look and feel to the REACT front end.
